Farms of the Shire Concerts

Taking their inspiration from the changing seasons the Songburrow Strollers devised a series of performances in tribute to the hard working farmers of the Shire who work tirelessly to ensure there is enough food for everyone to have pie on their table.

It was to be a joyous return for the band following the success of their concerts in Breeland. Although inundated with requests the band had to settle on four locations, each equally diverse and each presenting their own unique and sometimes formidable challenges, not least of which were Farmer Maggot's formidably fierce dogs.

A tour of the most noteworthy farms of the Shire would scarcely be complete without a visit to Bamfurlong. Farmer Maggot, owner, proprietor and long time friend to the Grand Order is well known throughout the Shire for the quality and abundance of his mushroom crop.

With the added promise of a fine supper and lodgings for the night the Strollers embarked on what was to be one of their most exuberant concerts to date. Bamfurlong saw the debut of Miss Sevelda Quickettle who did a marvellous job in her first outing as a Songburrow Stroller.

Famed for its fine pork sausages as much as its mud, the folk of Budgeford are straight talking and not easy to please. Milo had graciously cleared one of the fields for the performance and soon a crowd had gathered amid the barns, chicken runs and outbuildings to hear the Strollers play.

Scarcely had the Strollers put down their instruments and restrung their lutes before they launched into another series of concerts. This time their destination was Bree-land, much to the joy of the hobbits that dwell there.

Starting just outside the Bounds of the Shire in Buckland the Strollers made their way through the countryside before arriving in Bree. The concerts were arranged around a number of prominent locations in support of local villagers and townsfolk.
