Place: The Mathom House, Michel Delving, The Shire Who: Candula Bracegirdle Long after the Mathom House had shut its doors for the day a single lamp burned high up in the topmost window. If any passer by cared to notice and had keen eyes he would have seen two figures by the partially open window. One tall and lean despite his years with a mop of grey unruly hair... the other small and stocky even for a hobbit. The two unremarkable if it were not for that fact that the smaller of the two was gesticulating wildly and obviously agitated. The taller was well known in Michel Delving and his unmistakable appearance marked him out than none other than Keeper Brombard Foxtail, (Senior) – Honorary Scholar of Mathoms. A little later in the evening the head cleaner Miss Bracegirdle was disturbed by an outlandish fellow at the door of the Mathom House. Unkempt and in traveling clothes he insisted on being let inside and was most rude about it, raising his voice so much that a group of locals were attracted by the commotion. Coming to the aid of Miss Bracegirdle, who was by this time in a most frightful state they saw the fellow off and one of the Bounders was notified.
