In honour of Mouldy Cheese Day today, here is a poem dedicated to it!

    Mouldy Cheese

When a hobbit has their dinner
There's a food that really pleases
For with all their bread and butter
They will stack up lots of cheeses
Cut in different shapes and sizes
With a special knife to slice it

But while most may like it mild
And some others like it creamy
Once there lived a queer hobbit
Who's own taste was quite unseemly
For this hobbit's cheese stood oddly
    Quite mature and rather mouldy

Smelly cheese would always tempt him
    Strong aromas were delightful
The more pungent smell the better
Where most others found it frightful
    For their noses were befuddled
With the reek of stagnant puddles

Some old ripened cheese from Waymeet
    Was this funny hobbit's favourite
    Left maturing in his pantry
Streaked with green and blue inside it
But such cheese he always nibbled
For his breakfast, lunch and dinner

Now some dwarves once came to visit
And they went into his pantry
"But what's this?", they grumbled loudly
"It's all riddled through with mould, see!"
And they tossed aside his cheeses
On the floor it fell to pieces

Let us leave this weird hobbit
    Wildly sweeping up his cheeses
For it's well to still remember
    Many other types still pleases
Mouldy cheese, it is worth knowing
Really should be left to poems...

Thanks for sharing your poem, Master Simbo! As a lover of all cheeses, I really liked it! *giggles* I would like to meet this weird hobbit lad and taste some mouldy cheeses with him.
