    The Beetle Dream

I was napping on the grass in my gammer's backgarden
When a beetle came to me and spoke to me, so magical!
"Would you like to see the world?" it asked, and I nodded fast
And into my pocket it jumped
    Then all started spinning...

"I will show you all the world"
    Those were the beetle's words

"Let me show you all the world"
And it showed me all it could

I flew over mountains cold, above wide plains and barren wold
They were swarmed by the strangest creatures, quite unimaginable!
I floated over to the Moon and danced with all the brightest stars

I tasted sweet clouds and some snow of the highest mountain peaks
    It was the finest thing!

"I will show you all the world"
"Would you like to see some more?"

    Those were the beetle's words
So it showed me all the world

Suddenly I heard how someone dear was calling me
It woke me from the lovely dream!
Gammer called me inside, as it was close to the dinner time

A beetle hopped out of my pocket and disappeared in the grass
Was it a dream at all?

Did I really see the world?
    Now I will never know
Did I really see the world?
    Now I will never know

    That was the strangest dream

    That was the strangest dream
    That was the strangest dream
    ....

OOC: Best hummed to the Across the Universe tune:

I got the idea for these lyrics after I had a short nap. When I woke up, the music was streaming through my head and I suddenly got the idea of a beetle which would hop into my pocket and show the world to me. I had just finished with reading the Roverandom book, so I probably had some flying dogs and magical creatures in my mind at the moment. *chuckles* So, no strange mushrooms were needed to come up with these lyrics!

    Pycella's Friendship Song

The road of life is long
    But don't feel scared
I'll guide you all the way
    Until the end
    So take my little hand
    And let me show
    All wonders of the world

    And even more

Let's cross the fields of green
    Where wind flows free
    Let's explore the oldest woods

    Of enchanted trees
    No need to feel afraid
    I'm by your side
Guarding our way through both day and night

    We share a strong friendship
    That conquers all dangers
It's rooted deep in our hearts
The road goes through the darkness

    But we bring the light
Much brighter than all the stars

    Once you where so alone
    Hid in your shell
    Even when it was safe
    You felt unwell
But now you've found your strength
    And yourself too

It's time to cheer while pipes of joy toot

At last we found our place
    In this big world
    The journey led us here
    To our real home
    Let's share these happy days
    The life of peace
And cherish all of our lovely memories

    Even when our story ends

    I won't leave you
My song will echo through the evening air
I will forever stay inside your heart

That way we never will truly part

    We'll never part
    We'll never part
    We'll never part

OOC: The lyrics were made for a special Badgers' rehearsal where we played Blackmore's Night tunes. This one is best sung to Village Lanterne:

    Oreland Song

Have you ever heard of the Grand Land of The Ore
That lies far away, over hill, brook and bridge?
There's a valley with giants all around
But they don't see you if you're real small
Let us depart for the Grand Land of the Ore
'Cause the ore won't wait for ever, that's for sure
Just take your pickaxe and all your courage too
The journey has all kind of mishaps just for you

Let us walk five hundred miles
And let us walk five hundred more
'Cause it will take us a thousand miles
To reach the Grand Land of the Ore

When we arrive at the Grand Land of the Ore
You won't believe your own eyes, I assure
There are loads of good Dwarf-iron ore
Those nodes are growing like taters in a row

Let us walk five hundred miles
And let us walk five hundred more
'Cause it will take us a thousand miles
To reach the Grand Land of the Ore

Ore is lovely, ore is pretty, can't resist it, nothing beats it
It makes good tools and jools and trinkets too
Mine it hasty, it can't be wasted, take your pickaxe, loot it all fast
We will be rich like dragons after this trip

But don't be hasty, there are giants roaming there
They will squash you with their enormous feet
So keep quiet and act like you're a mouse
They are stupid and easy to mislead

Let us walk five hundred miles
And let us walk five hundred more
'Cause it will take us a thousand miles
To reach the Grand Land of the Ore

Ore is lovely, ore is pretty, can't resist it, nothing beats it
It makes good tools and jools and trinkets too
Mine it hasty, it can't be wasted, take your pickaxe, loot it all fast
We will be rich like dragons after this trip

Let us walk five hundred miles
And let us walk five hundred more
'Cause it will take us a thousand miles
To reach the Grand Land of the Ore

Nice song, Pycella! But, if ya don't mind my asking, how much did Nimelia pay you to make a song that might inspire all them that's inclined to grubbing for ore to walk off a thousand miles and leave all the nearby rocks for her?
Nimelia, Tibba and Pycella like this.
  5. Pycella Member

*chuckles at Miss Rubysue* I never thought of that, what a cunning plan! I think I didn't get much coin for this song, but I did get some free tools!

Oh, I almost forgot, I made another tune... It was performed on last Friday as a flute & Misty Mountain harp duet.

    Autumn Winds

    Autumn comes, like each year
I can feel it in the morning air
The birds are singing their farewell songs
The Gammer warns of mighty storms
That shake the roofs of little hobbit homes
"Just stay inside, all be safe and sound"

    Outside the cold winds blow
Little folks hide in their holes
Trying to escape the growing cold
But I step out and start my dance

I am not afraid of the autumn winds
    Of the autumn winds
They make me feel like a bird that flies free
    Bird that flies free
I am dancing with all those golden-coloured leaves
    That whirl in the breeze
I am not afraid of the autumn winds
    Of the autumn winds

    I sway with the trees
    I swim in fallen leaves
    Stir puddles with my feet
Everything is just full of feel

Join my dance, step out and feel free
Take my hand and run through the fields
Shake your fears and remember to live
Listen to the songs of the wind, songs of the wind

    Last berries wait for you
The woods offer many tasty shrooms
Why stay inside and miss the treats of earth?

    Let's light some grand campfires
Enjoy warm tea and old tales
    Wrapped in our warmest clothes
We don't feel any of the coldness

I am not afraid of the autumn winds
    Of the autumn winds
They make me feel like a bird that flies free
    A bird that flies free
I am dancing with all those golden-coloured leaves
    That whirl in the breeze
I am not afraid of the autumn winds
    Of the autumn winds

The autumn is the season for change
Say farewell to warm summer days
    Even autumn does something good
The nature deserves its rest too

Let's sip some brandy or wine
    Eat many biscuits and pies
It makes you feel so warm inside
I can see it from your wide smile, from your wide smile

Just be brave, there's no need for you to hide
Up in the skies, all the stars are alight
Stars are alight, stars are alight
As long as I stay by your side
I'll keep your warm for tonight
I'll keep your warm for tonight, warm for tonight
    Warm for tonight

    Song for Overhill

    ScreenShot00228.jpg

Overhill is a place of beauty
    It's surrounded by emerald trees
All the creatures there seem to love it
Hobbits, otters and small bumble bees

    Overhill is

    My own favourite place
    May it be where

I spend rest of my days

I love walking in the fair old forest
Far away from sorrows and fears
The trees bring me some sweet comfort
It can't be found anywhere else

    Overhill is

    My own favourite place
    May it be where

I spend rest of my days

I don't need much fuss around me
I am happy with undisturbed peace
    I wish Overhill never changes
It's my haven guarded by trees

    Overhill is

    My own favourite place
    May it be where

I spend rest of my days

    Overhill is
    My own favourite place
    May it be where

    I spend rest of my...
I spend rest of my days

    Turtle Soup
(as performed today in a Badgers rehearsal)

    Once again, it's Saturday
We gather for a pork feast
    Soon, the food has disappeared
    There's nothing more to eat
    Oh no, what now?

No need to moan and grumble though
    'Cause it's an adventure day!
Let's go for a turtle hunt
    Down in a smelly cave

So we take our spears, straighten our hat tips
Sharpen all pie slicers that we can find
    Then, we saddle up

    CHORUS:
Soon, we will get some turtle soup
    From the cave called Filikul
    Brewed from a giant brute

Now, let us get some turtle soup
It is soothing and quite smooth
It will brighten up your mood

Then, at last, we reach the cave
    The Shirriff bangs the drums
    There's a little hobbit storm
    Dashing through the darkness
    Stand back, cave rats!

There it comes: a tricksy gate
That works in the strangest ways
Some of us might get stuck outside
    And miss the merry chase

So we start to count, both up and down
Even the gate knows not what goes on
    Then we all dash out!

Now, we will get some turtle soup
    From this cave called Filikul
    Brewed from a giant brute

Soon, we are sipping turtle soup
It is soothing and quite smooth
It has brightened up our mood

Now, got a turtle in my yard
And a stinky head on my wall
    And full stomach, above all

Yay, we did get some turtle soup
    From this cave called Filikul
    Brewed from a giant brute

    Walking through the woods

    Time for a Yule tune!

    I'm walking through the woods
I've wander'd so far from home
    The trees are watching me

As I plough through the snow

    It's getting very dark
I feel my limbs are getting weak
All I dream about 's some rest beside a hearth

    Then I see a light
It's shining through the snowy trees
    I'm holding my dear breath
    I reach a magic world

    Snowbeasts lie on the ground
    Sleeping peacefully
Snowy grims floating on the icy ponds

    I feel I'm getting close
The snowmen are all greeting me
    This must be Winterhome
    Where no one feels alone

    Music streams through the air
    Calming, full of joy

    Snowflakes dance merrily
    In endless whirls

    Then, the dream is gone
I wake up in my hobbit hole
Yet I have the strongest feel

    That Winterhome is real

I must say, Miss Pycella, I just sang your words along to Master Potty's two versions of the tune, each multiple times, and I am totally in love with both Master Potty's tune (can't even really decide between the two versions yet, both have their merits) and your words to the tune. *cheers happily*

    Merry Berry Yule

Yule's time for badgering, Winterhome wassailing
Fillin' hearts with joy and cheer
All come dance and drink some beer
    Music's streaming in the air
    Badgers make it very clear:
Every Badger Yule is a merry berry Yule

Let us toot and bang the drum
Give you some hum de dum
Squeak and hop and strum along
Come and join our Yuleish song
Dance until your feet are done
    Have grand Badger fun, because
Every songful Yule is a merry berry Yule

Join us, whether young or old
Sway until you feel no cold
See which drinks are being sold
Kegs and flasks are being rolled
Mulled wine may make you bold
Drink some more, lo and behold
Every carefree Yule is a merry berry Yule

It is time to munch and eat
    Every day needs seven meals
    Forget all dishwashing deeds
    Enjoy tasty bread and cheese
Berries are what a badger needs
    Join this special Yuletide feast
Every tummy full makes a merry berry Yule

    We use funny instruments
    Squealing gorns and pea shooters
    Brandy drops from clarinets
    Let's blow off spider webs
    With untamed pipe quintets
The drummers give all their best
Every noisy Yule is a merry berry Yule!

    Ooh...
A songful Yule is a merry berry Yule!
    Ooh...
A tummy full makes a merry berry Yule!
    Ooh...
A carefree Yule is a merry berry Yule!

Music is our gift for you
    Can't escape the merry mood
Feel like you're a badger too
    Say goodbye to solitude
Yule had never felt this good
    It is widely understood that
Every Badger Yule is a merry berry Yule

    Ooh...
    This is our Yuletide song
    Feel free to hum along
    Music is the strongest bond
Between friends in all the world
Every Badger Yule is a merry berry Yule

    Ode to the Badgers

Here is an ode to the merry group of Brandy Badgers! *cheers*

    Badger1.jpg

I am strolling in nearby woods
It's a sweet, clear springtime day
I'm off to my secret place
Where the badgers come to play

Soon I reach that secretive place
I sit down, staying in hiding
There's a rustle in the grass
The badgers have come to play

The air is filled with sweetest music
    That I've ever heard
    The woods become alive
I have never felt this happy
This is all I ever need

    Music's the most common tongue
And the badgers know it too
They take you back in time
With tunes that will never die

    Oh, this must be magic
    Streaming in the air
    No matter who you are
It flows straight to your heart

    It makes me feel like
    I'm a badger too
    Everytime I am here
Where the badgers come to play

    My own favorite place is
    Where the Badgers play

Here is a song about grand friends that have left us during the years *smiles*

    Beneath the same big sky

I took a stroll in my town
To a house my friend used to own
Now that she has gone, her burrow's been sold
All what's left are mem'ries of old

Her plants and flower pots are all gone
Her lantern doesn't glow here anymore
Tears start to build in my mourning eyes
I just would like to see her one more time
    One more time...

    One more time...

In this life, people they come and they go
It can make you feel sad

Yet I know that they're still somewhere out there
    Beneath this same big sky

In this life, people they come and they go
It can make you feel sad

Yet I know that they're still somewhere out there
    Beneath this same big sky
    Beneath this same big sky

I wonder where might she be?
Does she still often think of me?
Yet I know that we live beneath the same big sky

And we share the same bright stars
Yet I know that we live beneath the same big sky
And we share the same bright stars
Oh yes, we share the same bright stars

*sniffs*... made me think of and dwell on all my elven friends from the early days of LOTRO, Pycella, long before I was a hobbit. But there are by now quite a few missing hobbits in that category too.

Time for a romantic hobbity tune!

    The Shy Hobbit

He loves a fair market lass
Who sells apples of highest class
    Down in Waymeet she lives
He loves how her red copper hair
    Is flowing in autumn air
He should tell her how he feels

    But he's too shy

    He's just too shy
    He is too shy

    He's just too shy

He sees how she is walking by
Then she stumbles with a cry
    Dropping apples on the road
So he runs to help her out
Picking apples up from the ground
    Their eyes meet

    Tell her now...

    But he's too shy

    He's just too shy
    He is too shy

    He's just too shy

She gasps as she sees that sweet boy
Whom she has always eyed with great joy
    Her secret love he is
Now's the time to speak to him
    To reveal your strongest feelings
But she just blushes and smiles

    'Cause she's too shy

    She's just too shy
    She is too shy

    She's just too shy

They are just two shy hobbits

They are just two shy hobbits
    And in love
    And in love
    And too shy

    Another pie song!

    Perfect Pies

A sweet lass has woken up quite early
To start the day with meals that make her smile
She picks up spoons and bowls from a trolley
It’s time to cook a perfect morning pie

She loads a tray with dough and good filling
The pie is bursting like a girl’s heart
She hears how her own belly starts rumbling
She can’t resist a perfect berry tart

Now she sits with the pie on her doorstep
Wants to tuck in and enjoy her pie
Then she hears a restless rustle in the fence
The neighbour lad looks at her with hungry eyes:

“You can't hide your perfect pies!”
“Could you hand me one enormous slice?”
“I thought by now you'd realize”
“There’s no way to hide your perfect pies”

Another day, another pie is baking
She peers out, with anxious eyes
She locks the door, feeling her hands shaking
She can’t let that lad take her perfect pies

She takes the pie and sits down by the fire
When she hears a loud, shrieking scream
It is the lad, falling down the chimney
Black as night, but his face brightly beams

“You can't hide your perfect pies”
“Could you hand me one enormous slice?”
“I thought by now you'd realize”
“There’s no way to hide your perfect pies”

She loads a cart with boxes that smell lovely
Wheels it down the winding forest road
She finds a place where she can dine safely
The neighbour cannot reach her anymore

Yet again, when she unloads her carriage
Someone comes trampling through the woods
There he comes, that round boy from her village
    Leaping over rocks and toadstools

The lass looks at him and cannot help but smile
“Oh dear boy, you surely love my pies!”
“For them you always go the extra mile”
“You surely have opened up my own eyes”

“I won’t hide my perfect pies”
    “Instead, I’ll be your wife”
    “Only now I realize”
“There’s no need to hide my perfect pies”
“There’s no need to hide my perfect pies”
“There’s no need to hide my perfect pies”

    Sweet Shire Ale Song

    A young lad goes searching
    for a fair forest maiden
    one that dances with flowers
    in a green summer vale
When his quest meets with failure
    he seeks comfort and pleasure
    that drink we all cherish
    the sweet Shire ale

    An inn filled with laughter
when the work day is over
    taking gossip as gospel
when the true tales are stale
    Raising glasses together
    wishing joy for each other
    that drink we all cherish
    the sweet Shire ale

    No life is all cheerful
    hardships hide in the future
    no-one knows if the morning
    will let sunshine prevail
Let us toast for a bright day
    wishing joy for each other
    that drink we all cherish
    the sweet Shire ale

The Ballad of Ted Sandyman and the Three-Farthing Stone

There’s a story spreading all across the Shire
A tale of dust and deceit
How that fiend Ted Sandyman set out to mine
    ‘I’ll get all the ores’
    ‘I’ll get all the ores’

Never one to go about his deeds with care
Young Ted set out to mine our land with tools to spare
And soon he set his sights upon the Three-Farthing Stone
‘Mine it for ore, I will’
‘Mine it for ore, I will’

    (Did he mine?)
With picks in hand he went
    (Did he mine?)
But soon his picks were bent
    (Did he mine?)
    Didn’t even make a dent

    CHORUS:
The times may be grand in the Shire
But danger comes from our own
So come on, stand up for the Three-Farthing Stone
So come on, we’ll stand up for the Three-Farthing Stone

With cursing and spitting and the darkest of moods
He soon made new plans based on imported goods
So he ordered a mining pick from toolsmiths in Bree
‘This thing will serve me well’
‘This thing will serve me well’

But oh the tools of men are really quite huge
So when the Quick Post showed up, he felt like a stooge
Mining picks are hard enough to wield when they fit
    ‘But surely this is good’
    ‘It’ll serve me well’

    (Did he mine?)
He went up to the stone
    (Did he mine?)
Raised his pick with a groan
    (Did he mine?)
He fell down with a moan

    CHORUS:
The times may be grand in the Shire
But danger comes from our own
So come on, stand up for the Three-Farthing Stone
So come on, we’ll stand up for the Three-Farthing Stone

    Oo-oo-ooh,
    Meet by that ancient stone
    Oo-oo-ooh,
    Meet by that ancient stone

So he gave up on the ways of mining ore
His plans stuck in a drawer
Still that dang Three-Farthing Stone made him feel sore
    ‘I’ll make it suffer’
    ‘I’ll make it suffer’

    (Did he mine?)
That stone just made him sick
    (Did he mine?)
So he gave it quite a kick
    (Did he mine?)
Now he walks with a stick

    CHORUS:
The times may be grand in the Shire
But danger comes from our own
So come on, stand up for the Three-Farthing Stone
So come on, we’ll stand up for the Three-Farthing Stone

    OOC

Apparently, Ted Sandyman once tried to mine the Three-Farthing Stone. I wrote a song about it!

Best sung to David Bowie’s ‘Diamond Dogs’, this song was written for the “Three-Farthing Stone” protest rehearsal by the Brandy Badgers on May 15 2017. I am not actually sure that Ted ever did the deeds in this song, but he sure looks the type. Give him a scowl when yer pass by him, eh?

    Mining

A vein of ore in the countryside
My trusty pick is digging deep inside
    I'm mining
    Mining

The work is hard but always so rewarding
The rocks I seek with the ore I hoard
    When mining
    Mining

My throat is dry from all this dusty labour
But ore and rocks provide the sweetest flavour
    Mining
    Mining

    Oh-oh-ore

A vein of ore out in the countryside
My trusty pick is digging deep inside it
    Mining
    Mining

And finally I find sparkling treasure
The richest find I ever struck when I
    Was mining
    Mining

    Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
    Ore
    Oh-oh-ore, ore, ore
    Oh-oh-ore, ore, ore
    Oh-oh-ore, ore, ore

The day was long but my aim was true
The ore is safe in crates of oaken hue
    I'm mining
    Mining

    OOC:

Best sung to David Bowie's "Sorrow", this was first performed during the Brandy Badgers Three-Farthing Stone protest rehearsal on May 15 2017.

    Pycella's Patron Poem 2017

Here is the patron poem I made for the 9th Anniversary of GDF. I made it for my friends. Sadly, I couldn't fit everyone into the poem. I need to use a longer tune as the basis next time *smiles*

    It’s Green Dragon Friday
And I am feeling so well
It’s time to meet all of my friends

    They have all come here

Old Barmy counts his gold coins

Miss Lina sings with her sweet voice
Miss Acorne greets me with a warm hug
    And Nimelia inspects her mug

    King Potty straightens his hat
And Fidgit hops with his cat

There’s master Hooh sparkling like a star
    Ponso lectures about the parr

    Tibba enjoys her pork meal
    Rubysue is slicing the veal
Miss Apri comes, but too late again:
Simbo has cleared all the plates

Miss Nannie tells an old tale

    Bonkadoc makes a turnip sale
Ambrinna strums the quickest of tunes
As Penny tries to hide her blute

    This is my patron poem
To you, my friends, old and new
Friendship's the only ship that I trust
Let me sail it now with you

OOC: This one is sung to the tune Plaisir d'amour. I used an ABC that was based on Miss Baez' lovely version:
