We start before the sun has raised its head. The air is cool, the road it stretches far. We might have slept, instead we forge ahead And while we walk we watch a fading star. Too soon the sun is heating up the air. A rest! But no, we still must cover miles. No grumbles now about not being fair The journey's end we think about with smiles. For we are out here on a special day To meet a friend who has been gone for long. And even though he has been far away The ties that once us bound are still kept strong. For friends we come to Shire's edge this eve. For friends to meet will chase away all grief.
